preseason slate, including three games against
intrastate foe Golden State in Hawaii and Japan.

Lakers to Headline Japan Games
When the Lakers and Warriors met last December,
Kobe Bryant and Antawn Jamison waged a classic
scoring duel. The two young stars will take their show
overseas in October when Los Angeles and Golden
State play two preseason games at the Tokyo Dome
in the 2001 NBA Japan Games.

Lisa Leslie showed exactly why she's the WNBA's
MVP, posting career-playoff highs in points (36),
rebounds (16) and blocked shots (7) as the Sparks
reached the WNBA Finals for the first time in the

Bring on the Blazers!The Lakers will begin pursuit of their thirdconsecutive NBA Championship on Tuesday, October 30, when they host the rival Portland Trail Blazers at 7:30 p.m. PT at STAPLES Center. The Lakers released their entire 2001-02 regular season schedule on Thursday.

Shaq Scheduled for Toe Surgery
Shaquille O'Neal is scheduled to undergo surgery
next week to correct a claw toe deformity. The Lakers said Friday that O'Neal is not expected to miss any regular season games and team officials said more details on O'Neal's injury would be released following the surgery
